The new Hanthana International Bird Park and Ecotourism Zone established in Hanthana, Kandy will be opened. It has been built on a 27-acre plot of land located off the Hanthana Tea Museum. Hanthana International Bird Park and eco-tourism zone has more than 200 species of exotic birds, including rare exotic birds.
The park has been established at a cost of 490 million rupees and consists of large cages to house the foreign birds, with almost 100 staff to take care of the animals.

Hanthana International Bird Park has been built on a 27-acre plot of land located off the Hanthana Tea Museum. You can visit here via Kandy- Hanthana road easily. It’s 6km far from Kandy town.

Activities can do in Hanthana International Bird Park
In addition to the bird park, the first phase of the eco-tourism zone includes an educational training center for animal science students, a bird orphanage, a bird shelter, and a quarantine unit.
The bird park also features a unit to treat and release injured birds, a breeding unit to export foreign birds, an educational and recreational center for school students, and a natural bird study center.
