Losing a dog in mysterious ways can be super tough, especially for kids. Imagine how heartbreaking it is for a child still hoping to find their beloved furry friend. Surprisingly, this happens a lot everywhere!
In 2023, stats showed that over 10 million dogs go missing every year, which is seriously a huge amount!
Similar thing went down in San Antonio, Texas, a few years back. There was this family who lost their dog, Max. He vanished on the streets and they figured they’d never find him. But guess what? One day, the phone rang!
Max roamed the streets of San Antonio for a full two months.
Max’s family lost their little furball on the streets of San Antonio, but unlike many family dogs that wander off, he didn’t make it back!
They were really concerned because he was a small dog and couldn’t fend for himself out there. They went all out to locate him—putting up flyers in the area and even reaching out to the police.
Max was known as a really friendly, mixed-breed dog with a calm and sweet nature.
Despite searching tirelessly for two months, they had no luck finding him.
Deputy Perez Saves The Day
Max’s family had given up hope of ever finding their beloved dog after two months of no sign of him. They had accepted that Max was gone for good, and the kids, who were devastated, had almost stopped thinking about their little buddy.
But then, everything changed with one phone call!
Deputy Perez from the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office got a call about a small dog wandering nearby, bearing a striking resemblance to Max.
Perez rushed over and instantly recognized the dog from a flyer that had been up at the BCSO substation for the past two months. It was indeed Max!
“The joy on the children’s faces says it all! Huge thanks to Deputy Perez for making this reunion happen,” wrote the BCSO on their official Facebook page.
The Warmest Reunion Of All
Perez hurried to share the incredible news with Max’s family, and when they learned that their long-lost dog was safe, they erupted in tears of joy!
They dashed to the station to reunite with their beloved furry friend, and as soon as they met, Max wagged his tail enthusiastically and jumped into their arms!
One of the girls couldn’t contain her emotions and cried a lot when she finally held Max in her arms. The reunion overflowed with happiness, tears, and countless hugs and kisses—all made possible by Deputy Perez.
Max was back where he truly belonged—in his Texas home, far from the uncertainties of the streets where he had been left to fend for himself.
It was a tough time for this little guy, but with the love of his humans, there’s no doubt he’d bounce back to his usual self!
